París_ The president of France, Francois Hollande, and his counterpart of Cuba, Raúl Castro, reaffirm their will of strengthening bilateral relations, the digital site of Prensa Latina reports.

In his speech, Francois Hollande expressed that a new era in the links between Cuba and France is opened.

The head of state referred to the signature of a bilateral waybill in sectors like tourism and transport and expressed that the French nation is among the main trade partners of the Island.

The Gallic president emphasized that it all was possible due to the agreement reached on last December between the Greater of the Antilles and the Paris Club in relation to Cuba’s debt.

Hollande stressed the existence of a significant cooperation in the health sector and highlighted the role of Cuba in the formation of many doctors that collaborate with other countries.

France was always at the Caribbean nation’s side, convinced of the necessity of ending the blockade, which he described as a vestige of the Cold War, the French leader said.

On his part, Raul Castro expressed that both countries are linked by historical and cultural bonds and a deep friendship.

“This is the first state visit of a Cuban president to France and to a country member of the European country. It reaffirms the excellent relations and the will to consolidate the political dialogue at the highest level”, he said.

“We have kept productive conversations on several items. We ratified the will to increase and diversify the relations in the political, economic, commercial and financial dimensions, also in the academic and cultural cooperation”, he stressed.

The Cuban president expressed that the bilateral economic agenda recently signed, represents an important mechanism for the production, following and promotion of the trade economic links of cooperation and inversion, even to a medium and a large term.

Likewise, we are grateful of France leadership in the improvement of a new stage in the relation between Cuba and the European Union, based on respect and reciprocity”, Raul said.
