Washington__ The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) has selected 16 hospitals and health centers in seven Caribbean nations to make them safer to natural disasters, according to Radio Habana Cuba.

The project will be implemented with the support of the Department for International Development of the United Kingdom through the Emergency and Disaster Preparedness Department of the organization in collaboration with the Ministry of Health of each country.

PAHO explained that by 2020, more than 600 hospitals and health centers in the Caribbean will be evaluated, of which 50 will receive reforms to make them safer and more respectful towards environment, with a budget of US $ 49 million.
