Caracas_ Venezuelan security forces captured 23 people suspected of involvement in violent actions in El Paraiso, Libertador municipality, in the capital, Néstor Reverol, Minister of Interior, Justice and Peace, confirmed, Prensa Latina reports.
Reverol, in a message issued last night on Twitter, explained that those arrested are accused of wounding four officials of the security forces, who were removing a barricade placed by the violent groups on the bridge December 9, of the capital parish of El ParaÃso.
The security forces confiscated firearms and homemade explosives to the detainees, and are now in the hands of the court.
As a result of these criminal actions Captain Luis Chourio, with a wound in one leg; Sergeant Jarold Garcia, with wounds on his face; Deputy Sergeant Carlos Gomez, injured in a lower limb, and Sergeant Jose Diaz, on the arm, were injured, explained Reverol.
It was also learned that the state police chief supervisor, Douglas Acevedo Sánchez, was killed yesterday in the Sucre viaduct of Mérida state, during the violent actions perpetrated on Tuesday by violent groups encouraged by Venezuelan opposition.
The information was given by the governor of that western state, Alexis Ramirez, who in telephone contact with Venezolana de Televisión indicated that the police officer was transferred to the University Hospital of Los Andes, where he died.
