Caracas__ If someone took seriously the idea of making the South American continent a space of liberation and hope for humanity, that was Ernesto Guevara de la Serna, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro Moros said in this capital, Prensa Latina reports.

The president emphasized last night the virtues of the legendary Cuban-Argentinean guerrilla commander, in particular the legacy of struggle and the revolutionary character that he left, in his desire to consolidate the South American Union, before the interventionist pretensions of US imperialism.

"Che is the eternal young man, eternal guerrilla, eternal rebel who speaks to us forever, from his example of struggle that he had to carry forward and also from his martyrdom from his sacrifice," Maduro stressed.

He also recalled that in his revolutionary struggle, Ernesto Guevara traveled to Bolivia where he entered the heart of the jungle to form a guerrilla army and face imperialism.

"Giant dream," added the Venezuelan head of state, "as big as that of Bolivar, Miranda and Sucre, his example was left and that example generates political and spiritual strength," he stressed while emphasizing the importance of further consolidating the Legacy of the revolutionary leader.

"We are proud to be followers of Ernesto Che Guevara," Maduro emphasized.
