Brussels - Belgium's Prime Minister, Charles Michel, has called for an emergency meeting of the National Security Council today, following the attack on the Central Station of the capital yesterday, according to Prensa Latina.

Justice Minister Jan Jambon reported Wednesday that the country remains at a level three (out of four possible) of a terrorist threat, which means that an attack is very likely to occur.

Speaking to radio RTBF, the Minister they could avoid last night the worst by neutralizing the attacker, who died shot down by the military.

The man caused a small explosion in the Brussels’ station, but apparently he had a belt of explosives, reason why the denouement could be worse, according to the authorities.

The Belgian Prosecutor office investigates the case as a terrorist act, and they have managed to identify the attacker, although they have not yet disclosed it to prevent it from hindering investigations.

Jambon said that what happened last night demonstrates the appropriate of keeping a wide deployment of security forces in the streets and places of greater concentration of people.

After the attack, the station was completely evacuated and the traffic was interrupted, but today the entity resumed its habitual activity.
