Caracas_ Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has announced a set of steps to defend the nation’s sovereignty and to guarantee people’s security in the July 30 elections for the National Constituent Assembly, Prensa Latina reports.
To this end, the National Defense Council, which was activated Tuesday against threats by US President Donald Trump, against Venezuelan democracy, was declared in permanent session till July 30, according to Nicolas Maduro in contact with Dossier T.V program.
Maduro said that some actions were taken in the financial, commercial and energy spheres in order to overcome any economic sanctions that Washington intends to impose on Venezuela for continuing its course towards the National Constituent Assembly.
On the diplomatic front, the Venezuelan president said that the South American nation will condemn the interventionist threats by US President Donald Trump and the EU representative, Federica Mongherini, to international organizations such as the UN, Community of Latin American and Caribbean States and Union of Southern Nations.
Ideologically speaking, Venezuelan leader urged the people to mobilize throughout the country to defend their constitutional right to vote and to decide for a future of peace in the South American nation. 'I call for great demonstrations within the framework of the constituent campaign with the slogan: Venezuela must be respected, the Constituent goes forward,' he said.
On the other hand, Maduro reiterated that there is a worldwide operation in progress to re-colonize Latin America and the Caribbean and that Venezuela is at the center of this imperial goal of reversing revolutionary processes.
In this regard, he urged the peoples of the world to stand up for Venezuela to defend mankind.
