Caracas_ The head of the Strategic Operational Command of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces, Remigio Ceballos, affirmed today that no foreign power could end the legacy of the Liberator Simón Bolívar in this country, Prensa Latina reports.
In the ceremony of raising the national flag for the 234th anniversary of the birth of the father of the Venezuelan homeland, Ceballos urged the people to pay tribute to the Liberator and all the martyrs with the defense of the nation from the imperial attacks.
He reiterated that Venezuela is a sovereign state that has no parallelism in the world and that its government manages to keep the principles and values referred to in the Constitution of the Republic, as well as a social policy for the benefit of all.
Ceballos also highlighted the imprint of Commander Hugo Chavez in the preservation of that legacy left by Simon Bolivar to Venezuelans.
He also urged all actors in the political struggle to engage in dialogue and to respect the institutional framework.
We must all fight for the invaluable good of the union, he said.
He also ratified the willingness and commitment of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces to preserve the peace of the nation and the social guarantees of the people.
"We will guarantee peace, that’s the reason for the invitation to the dialogue, the respect. We will defend the homeland and we will achieve the victory, "he said.
Later, Venezuelan authorities deposited a wreath before the monument that keeps the mortal remains of Bolivar, in an act which also remembers the 194 anniversary of the Naval Battle of Maracaibo.
On July 24, 1823, after an intense battle on Maracaibo Lake, the squads of the Spanish colony surrendered to the impetus and courage of the Creole patriots, which became an essential action for Venezuelan independence, according to Historians.
In homage to this important liberating feat, the Venezuelan Navy Day is celebrated every July 24.
