Ginebra_ Cuba defended in the United Nation Organization (ONU), the legitimate right of the human beings and the countries to live in peace, in a world free of nuclear weapons, Prensa Latina reported.

According to Pedro Nuñez, General Director of Multilateral Affairs and International Rights from the Cuban Foreing Ministry, the advances required in relation to the disarmament, the control of armaments and the no proliferation of weapons cannot be achieved through the application of unilateral, bilateral or regional measures.

When talking at the high level segment of the Disarmament Conference, the Cuban executive remarked that multilateral actions and negotiated solutions in the political organizations based in the United Nations Letter, are essential.

“We support the urgent beginning of multilateral negotiations for the early ending of a convention that establish the prohibition and elimination of all nuclear weapons in a set up term, Nuñez emphasized.

He underlined that threatening or using nuclear weapons under any circumstance, is a violation of the International Right and a crime against humanity.

“It is our duty to guarantee that nuclear weapons would not be used again under any circumstances, to preserve peace and achieved human survival”, the functionary stated.

“The Disarmament Conference has an important mandate and it has to fulfill it. The challenges for achieving it are not insuperable. It urges to adopt a wide and balanced program that takes into consideration the real priorities in relation to disarmament.

The members of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States, strengthen with their proclamation as a Peace Zone in 2014, are resolutely committed with the nuclear disarmament as a prior objective, Nuñez assured.
