Indonesia_ A 7,9 magnitude earthquake jolted this Wednesday the southeast part of Sumatra island, Granma newspaper reported.

According to the available information, the epicenter was located at 10 kilometers depth in the Indian Ocean, in front of the island’s coasts.

The local authorities issued a Tsunami warning for the western and northern regions of the country.

In 2004, a 9,1 magnitude earthquake occurred at 160 km of the Western coast of Sumatra, provoked a tsunami and left over 230 thousand dead.
