Caribe_ Hurricane Irma hit Puerto Rico with strong winds of 111 miles per hour, about 170 kilometers per hour and left its first mortal victim, Radio Reloj reports.

It is a 76-year-old woman who was in a wheelchair and died after suffering three cardiac arrest after falling while being rescued in her home.

The rains are continuous and intense and according to the State Agency for Emergency Management and Disaster Assistance there are material damages that have not yet been quantified.

The Puerto Rican authorities have carried out an evacuation operation so that the people leave their houses to be provisionally in the almost 500 shelters enabled before the passage of Irma.

While several dead people and other injuried is the preliminary balance after the passage of Hurricane Irma by the French islands San Bartolomé and San Martin, located in the Caribbean Sea.

The hurricane, ranked 5 and considered among the worst in history in the Atlantic Ocean, hit Wednesday with force in San Bartolomé and San Martin, where material damages are almost impossible to quantify at the moment.

Authorities are waiting for an improvement of the weather, and the winds to lose intensity to carry out reconnaissance flights as early as possible, although a preliminary report indicated that the islands are experiencing heavy flooding and a high level of destruction.
