Mexico_ With a preliminary balance of 16 dead, a strong quake of magnitude 8.4 on the Richter scale shook several states of Mexico, causing panic among the population that took to the streets in the face of strong movement, Radio Reloj reports.

Originated in the Pacific, this is the strongest earthquake reported in more than 100 years, confirmed the main news media in the country.
The epicenter was located about 100 kilometers southeast of the Aztec nation and its effects were felt in several states in central and southern Mexico, also in Guatemala and other Central American countries.
After the quake, part of Mexico City was without electricity, military helicopters fly over the area to assess possible effects on buildings, and the government reinforced the military presence on the streets.
At first it was said that the earthquake could cause a tsunami as its epicenter is located in the sea.
