Managua_ Academician Aldo Díaz-Lacayo, member of the Nicaragua’s Chapter of the Network of Intellectuals in Defense of Humanity, demanded respect today for former Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula Da Silva, who was temporarily arrested on Friday in his country, Prensa Latina reports.

Nothing that happens in Latin America and the Caribbean is alien to the United States’ imperial policy, said historian and former diplomat to Prensa Latina.

There is a renovated wave of attacks of the United States in the region, he said, linking the results of Argentina’s presidential elections, Venezuela’s parliamentary elections and Bolivia’s refusal to indefinite reelection to causes exogenous to the nations.

They made an extraordinary scandal, violating all legal procedures and even the forms of courtesy with the former President, he said.

Nothing is respected anymore, extraterritoriality and unilaterality are brutal, but I believe that Lula’s attitude has been very honorable, he said.
