Madrid, Spain_ The head of the Spanish government, Mariano Rajoy, urged the president of Catalonia, Carles Puigdemont, to define before Monday if he proclaimed the independence of that region, due to the confusion created on its entry into force, Radio Reloj publishes.

In case of Puigdemont's response to be positive, the ultimatum of the central administration is extended until the coming Thursday for the government to revoke the hypothetical unilateral declaration of independence.

The requirement, previous any of the measures that the Spanish Government may adopt under the Constitution, seeks to provide citizens with the clarity and legal certainty that requires a question of such importance, Rajoy emphasized.

The Magna Carta allows Madrid to take partial or total control of any of its regions, in case they breach their obligations or act seriously against the general interest of Spain.
