Beirut_ Â Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri unexpectedly resigned in the middle of a visit to Saudi Arabia, Prensa Latina publishes.
According to Al Arabiya television, Hariri, 47, considered a traditional ally of countries like Saudi Arabia, France, and the United States, said he abdicates because he perceives the existence of 'a conspiracy to end my life,' amidst, according to him, of the violent political climate in which his country is immersed.
In his appearance, he also criticized - without giving more details - the Shiite group Hezbollah, which is part of the government he heads, and Iran.
After holding the post of prime minister from 2009 to 2011, Hariri, the political leader of the Movement of the Future (Al-Mustaqbal Movement), was reappointed to that post in November last year by a decree of Lebanese President Michel Aoun, after the endorsement of the parliament.
