Barcelona_ The separatist parties of Catalonia got, this Thursday, the absolute majority in the regional parliament in the crucial elections held in that autonomous community of Spain, according to the first official data.
With 99.55% of the votes counted, the coalition Juntos por Cataluña, Esquerra Republicana and the Popular Unity Candidacy reached 70 seats, 2 above the absolute majority, set at 68, according to the Radio Reloj website.
Liberal Citizens, with 37 seats, are placed as the most voted list in the decisive elections, in which detractors and supporters of the unity of Spain disputed control of the legislative assembly.
That triumph, however, prevents them from leading a government in Catalonia, because together with the other forces of the so-called constitutionalist bloc they do not outnumber the independence fighters.
