Pyongyang_ North Korea agreed on Friday to hold official talks with the South next week, at the border truce village of Panmunjom, Radio Habana Cuba publishes. 

"North Korea sent us a fax this morning saying it accepts the Southern proposal for talks on the coming 9th," a ministry official told.

The two nations are expected to discuss the possible participation of the North Korean team in the Winter Olympics, to be held in the South next month.

"We hope the South and the North can discuss both the issue of North Korean participation in the Olympic Games in Pyongyang and other issues of interest to improve relations between both sides,” the South Korean minister said.
