United Nations_ Secretary General of the United Nations Organization (UN), Ban Ki-moon called the attention on the links of the liquid and its use on occasion of the World Water Day, so he urged to improve its quality and to preserve it, the digital site of Prensa Latina reports.
Almost 1500 million people works in sectors related with the water, and all jobs generally depend on the availability of water.
According to the diplomat, despite the strategic importance of the precious liquid for human survival and the economy, this does not receive the required attention.
"The lack of quality and adequate sanitation of the water, can be fatal, about 20 percent of the two million annual deaths related to work, are a result of poor hygienic conditions and drinking water," Ban Ki -moon argued.
Ban called for greater international commitment to the management, quality and protection of water resources in the context of the Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development.
He also remembered that the global platform for human progress reflected in the sixth of its 17 goals, the need to ensure sustainable water management and health, on the way to the central goal of the Agenda 2030, in order to achieve a life dignity for all human beings.
