Luanda_ The victory of Cuito Cuanavale, 28 years ago, gave rise to the independence of Namibia, the end of Apartheid and the release of Nelson Mandela, according to the Jornal of Angola recalling that historic date, Radio Reloj publishes.

The Heroes of the Battle will be dignified' headlines the newspaper and affirmed that the Angolan Government defends the celebration of the date taking into account the historical dimension the military victory achieved internationally.

Similarly, added the newspaper, it is well-known the fierce fight in the field, considered by experts as the greatest after World War II.

Politicians and historians recognize that the victory of the Angolan and Cuban internationalist’s troops in Cuito Cuanavale was made possible by the courage and commitment of the participant’s fighters in this heroic deed.
