Havana, Cuba_ Alicia Bárcena, executive secretary of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (CEPAL in Spanish), received the title of Doctor Honoris Causa in Economic Science at the Aula Magna of the University of Havana, Radio Reloj publishes

At the meeting, Gustavo Cobreiro, Rector of the institution, read the resolution that endorses the granting and Silvia Odriozola, Dean of the Faculty of Economy highlighted the contributions of the Mexican biologist to the CEPAL focused on the necessary structural change for the development.

"I am honored to be in Cuba at this moment, because I know the process of updating the economic model since it was born," Alicia Bárcena said.

She praised the way of equality the island shows and reiterated the claim of ending the blockade, with its brutal consequence for the Cuban.
