The meeting began with a tribute to the leader and founder of the University Student Federation, Julio Antonio Mella, and then discussed in different panels on the contribution of this population sector to the economy, science, democracy and human rights.

Susely Morfa, first secretary of the National Committee of the Young Communists League (UJC), highlighted the significance of the event as it is a reflection of the participation of the new generations in all the tasks of the Revolution.

Gisleidy Sosa, head of the Department of International Relations of the UJC, also pointed out that the forum Thinking Americas helped bring one more time closer to the thinking and legacy of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz.

It ended with the reading of the final declaration, which served as a guide and precedent to the positions that the representatives of Cuban civil society will defend in the parallel event to the VIII Summit of the Americas, scheduled for April 13 and 14 in Lima Peru.
