Havana_ Devox Caribe S.A., a subsidiary of the Mexican company General Paint, will soon have a modern paint factory in the Mariel Special Development Zone (ZEDM) in western Cuba, Prensa Latina reports.

The investor process initiated in June 2015 should end at the end of May to give way to the start-up, according to the general director of the entity established in the ZEDM, Enrique Palacios.

As he explained, in 2018 and for two years, the plant will be dedicated to the production of acrylic paints and in a second phase will incorporate other assortments, including special paints.

The Mexican company has 25 years of regular sales to Cuba, so 'we have a safe market, and with the investment in Mariel, Palacios said, we will reduce operating costs by reducing freight payments and other logistics expenses.'

Currently, the firm has commercial offices in Havana, Varadero, Ciego de Ávila and Holguín, which according to the interviewee ensures good coverage within the national territory.
