Vienna_ The President of the People’s Supreme Court of Cuba, Dr. Rubén Remigio Ferro, arrived here at the head of his country's delegation to the forum for the launch of the Global Judicial Integrity Network, which began today, Prensa Latina reports.
The meeting, organized by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), is held for two days at the UN headquarters in Vienna and convenes the top representatives of the world's judicial bodies.
The main objective is the establishment of an international body dedicated to defending judicial integrity and preventing corruption in the justice systems.
In the opening words of the two-day event, the Director of the International Relations Division of UNODC, John Brandolino, highlighted the importance of this Network as "a broad platform to share experiences and join efforts among judges throughout the world”.
The adoption of a declaration containing the international commitments is foreseen to continue discussing common challenges, best practices and innovative ideas to produce initiatives and promote integrity, accountability and transparency in the justice systems, as part of the objectives.
The delegation is made up of the Chargé d'Affaires a.i, of the Embassy of Cuba, Marieta García Jordán; the director of Communication and International Relations of the Court, Pedro Medina Gutiérrez, and the third secretaries of the Cuban mission in Austria, Beatriz Lauzarique Montiel and Susette Hernández González.
