Habana, Cuba_ The vice president of Education, Roberto Forneiro announced yesterday the introduction of important changes in the teaching model of sciences for the coming academic year, Prensa Latina reports.
The study plans for the pedagogical master degrees (double profile) will be modified as single profile, among them, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, and Labor Education.
Next school course, 2016-2017, the careers linked to teaching will only be for four years of study and not for five years, as it is now scheduled, said Forneiro during a master conference in the 9th Didactic Sciences Congress.
Forneiro stressed that the link of the teachers to production centers, such as factories and workshops related with the specialty the students are studying, might be studied and analyzed, to acquire or reassert abilities that could be very useful in schools later.
The official acknowledged that there is a rejection of all disciplines related to the natural and exact sciences in some contexts, because of insufficient preparation of teachers.
In Cuba, the math is the subject with highest number of class-hours in the educational system. After 1959, it is introduced at the basic-middle level the teaching of Physics and Chemistry", the Vice Minister recalled.
The Congress, marching with an international physics education workshop, invited specialists from Spain, Portugal, Slovakia, Costa Rica, Peru, Venezuela, Ecuador, Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, Guatemala, Brazil, Chile, Uruguay, and Angola.
