The Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Peoples Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) welcomed today the election of Miguel Diaz-Canel as president of the Councils of State and Ministers of Cuba, Prensa Latina reports. 

"The election process developed on the Island in the framework of the IX Legislature of the National Assembly of People's Power (Parliament), 'is a clear message to the international community of the maturity and continuity of the Cuban Revolution," says a statement published on the website of the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry,

The ALBA-TCP countries recognized the work done by Army General Raúl Castro as head of the Cuban presidency since 2008 and highlighted his work in defense of the integration of the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean.

'ALBA-TCP expresses its congratulations to the Cuban people and government for this new election and reiterates to President Díaz-Canel the support and solidarity”, the statement concluded.
