Havana_ The Secretary General of the UN, Antonio Guterres, arrived in Havana today to participate in the opening session of the thirty-seventh session of ECLAC and will hold talks with Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel, Radio Havana Cuba publishes.
At José Martí International Airport, Guterres was received by the host vice chancellor, Abelardo Moreno.
In addition to the meeting with Díaz-Canel, and the opening of the forum of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), the general secretary will pay tribute to the Cuban National Hero, José Martí, in the memorial erected to the independence hero at the Revolution Square.
The agenda disclosed for his visit also includes a tour of areas of the Historic Center of Havana, declared by Unesco as a World Heritage Site.
This is Guterres' first visit to Cuba since he took office in January 2017, replacing Ban Ki-moon, who was also in the largest of the Antilles as secretary general of the organization that brings together 193 countries.
