Havana_ The president of Cuba, Miguel Mario Díaz-Canel, evaluated the progress of the recovery of the central and western provinces of the country, affected by the rains associated with the recent storm Alberto, Prensa Latina reports.

The Cuban leader spoke yesterday by videoconference with authorities of the territories affected by the meteorological situation , in which also participated the second secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, José Ramón Machado Ventura, the Commander of the Revolution Ramiro Valdés; and government officials.

During the meeting, the progress of recovery efforts and the difficulties still present in the provinces of those regions were verified, and it was found that the most complex situation is found in agriculture, roads, bridges and some areas still flooded.

The first deputy minister of Economy and Planning, Alejandro Gil, reported on the availability of resources for the victims, as well as the joint work with the Ministries of Agriculture and Internal Commerce for the distribution of food.

In this regard, Díaz-Canel emphasized that there will be zero tolerance for the possible crime of speculation that may arise in the sale of these products to the population.

The head of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment, Elba Rosa Pérez, said that the work in the Bay of Cienfuegos for the oil spill will allow the recovery of that area in the shortest possible time.

She also warned about the high probability of rain that will affect Cuba during the next five days and urged the directors of the territories to adopt the necessary measures to mitigate the damage.

The Minister of Transport, Adel Yzquierdo, explained the work that is being carried out on the development of roads, bridges and railway lines.

Díaz-Canel instructed to continue the work quickly to compensate the damages and insisted on maintaining vigilance and preventive measures in case of any eventuality.
