Havana_ The XV International Congress of Recycling begins today at Havana’s Convention Center with the aim of replacing imports and enhance this branch of the industrial sector, Prensa Latina publishes.

The event, which is part of the program of the International Convention Cubaindustria 2018, offers conferences on the projection of the development of the recycling industry in Cuba; as well as the disclosure of the benefits of the reuse of materials on the environment.

The appointment, which will conclude next Friday, 22, includes presentations on the integral management of urban solid waste and the importance of recycling electronic scrap.

As part of the development strategy of the Iron and Steel Industry of Cuba, and according to the director of development of that Business Group, Mario Hernández, the country implements a strategy to increase the percentage of raw materials that are currently being collected.

Likewise, he added, the insertion of new technologies is sought in terms of the recovery of solid urban waste, which is also expected to make a significant contribution to the country's electricity generation.

Likewise, as a sign of the relevance of this sector, the packaging industry estimates, during this year, to reuse more than 112 million glass containers, 61 million more than those recovered in 2013.

This would mean an increase of more than 50 percent in the last five years in terms of the reuse of these products, explained the specialist of this sphere of the Ministry of Industry, Juana Herrera.

The Congresses of Technological Management and Organizational Innovation, Packaging and Packaging, Industrial Maintenance and Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Renewable Energy will be closed during this day.

Cubaindustria 2018 is the third convention organized by the Ministry of Industries and aims to promote strategic alliances between national and foreign companies that contribute to the country's industrial development.
