Havana, Cuba_ The Vice President of the Council of Ministers, Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz, received on Monday afternoon Mr. Stéfano Manservisi, General Director of Cooperation and Development of the European Commission, as part of the work program he is developing in the country in the framework of the celebration of the first Subcommittee on Cooperation Cuba - European Union, Radio Reloj publishes.
During the meeting they exchanged about the current status and future perspectives of bilateral cooperation, recognizing the progress made in the last year in the implementation of the Multiannual Indicative Program for the period 2014-2020, which provides Cuba with non-reimbursable funds worth 50 million euros for the energy and agriculture sectors, as well as the exchange of experts.
They also agreed on the importance of continuing to deepen the work in these sectors, which are priorities for the economic and social development of Cuba.
Vice President Cabrisas highlighted the importance of the constitution of this Subcommittee on Cooperation, as part of the implementation of the Political Dialogue and Cooperation Agreement signed bilaterally in December 2016, which will contribute to strengthen the bonds of cooperation in an environment of respect, transparency and trust.
Mr. Stéfano Manservisi was accompanied by the Honorable Mr. Alberto Navarro, Ambassador of the European Union in Cuba and Ms. Jolita Butkeviciene, Director for Latin America and the Caribbean of the Direction General for Cooperation and Development of the European Commission.
On the Cuban side, Ileana Núñez Mordoche, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, Inalvis Bonachea González and Danae de Paz Grau, Director and Officer of the Trade Policy Department of Europe of that Ministry, respectively, were also present.
