Havana_ With the arrival of another 204 doctors from Brazil today in Cuba, nearly 1 thousand 500 physicians have returned to the Island in the last few days after participating in the Más Médicos program, an initiative affected by the hostility of President-elect Jair Bolsonaro , Prensa Latina reports.
We return with the pride of the duty fulfilled, new experiences, more preparation as professionals and more convinced than ever of what an internationalist doctor means, said on behalf of the group Dr. Lázaro DÃaz.
The collaborator stressed that they return with their heads held high, willing to serve the country where necessary and faithful to the legacy of the historic leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro, who promoted the democratization of health in the world.
According to DÃaz, they left behind many signs of affection from Brazilian patients, the ones most affected by Bolsonaro's conditions and threats, which forced the Ministry of Public Health of Cuba (MINSAP) to take the decision of not continue participating in More Doctors, a program activated in 2013 to assist people affected by poverty.
Authorities from different sectors, headed by the political bureau member of the Lazara Communist Party, Mercedes López Acea, went to the José Martà International Airport to welcome the seventh flight of aid workers.
In the coming days and weeks the arrival of Cuban collaborators from Brazil will continue, a country in which they worked about eight thousand 300 at the time of the decision not to continue participating in More Doctors, announced on November 14.
