Havana_ Giovanni Saverio Furio, President of the Socialist and Democrats’ Group in the European Parliament, will meet with Cuban Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, Rodrigo Malmierca, Prensa Latina reports.

According to the agenda, the visitor will also hold a meeting with Jose Ramon Balaguer, head of International Relations Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, and will visit José Martí Memorial.

The eve, the MEP held talks with Ana Maria Mari, vice president of the National Assembly of People's Power (ANPP by its Spanish initials) and predicted a very important year for the future relations between the two parliaments, hampered by the common position adopted by the Union European, since 1996.

"Cuba is the only Latin American country with which the EU has no agreements, we want to help to change that," he said.

Tomorrow, the President of the Socialist Group and Democrats in the European Parliament will meet Bruno Rodriguez, Cuban Foreign Minister.

Concluding his stay in Havana the visitor will hold an exchange with several civil society organizations and will offer a press conference at the headquarters of the European Union in Cuba.
