Havana, Cuba_ Army General Raul Castro Ruz, President of the Councils of State and Ministers, received his Excellency Mr. Philip Anthony Hammond, Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, who is on an official visit to our country, Granma newspaper reports.

During the meeting, both sides checked the progress achieved in the bilateral ties and the existing potentials to improve them in mutual interest areas. They also welcomed the signing of the agreement that regulates the Cuban debt with the United Kingdom in a medium and long term, which should contribute to the development of the economic, commercial and financial relations between the two nations and also exchanged on various issues of the international agenda.

The distinguished visitor was accompanied by Tim Cole, Ambassador of the United Kingdom, and Mrs. Kate Smith, director of America of the British Foreign Office.

Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla and Rodrigo Malmierca, ministers of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment respectively participated on the Cuban side.

Previously the British Chancellor held official talks with his counterpart Rodriguez Parrilla, and met with the Vice President of the Council of Ministers, Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz, who signed the agreement.
