Havana, Cuba: The Minister of Energy and Mines, Raúl GarcÃa Barreiro, stated that the conjunction of unforeseen breakdowns in five generating units, added to planned maintenance in others, have been the causes of the deficit in the generation of electricity in the country since this Tuesday, Radio Reloj publishes.
He explained that the entry into maintenance of 2 units in Cienfuegos and Unit No. 5 of Renté, coincided with breakdowns of one in Mariel, 3 in Nuevitas and another in the Antonio Guiteras plant, which led to service interruptions throughout the country.
Garcia Barreiro said that it has been tried not to affect circuits with basic services to the population and that the deficit in generation is not associated with the availability of fuel.
The gradual entry of 3 generating units is foreseen in the coming hours to normalize the situation of the national electric power system starting next Saturday.
