Santiago de Cuba, Cuba: Floral offerings of Army General Raúl Castro Ruz and Cuban President Miguel DÃaz-Canel Bermúdez presided the ceremony to remember the Martyrs of the Revolution and the anniversary of the death of the clandestine combatant Frank PaÃs GarcÃa held at Santa Ifigenia cemetery, Radio Reloj publishes.
In front of the Pantheon of the Martyrs of July 26 and chaired by the Vice President of the State Council, Beatriz Johnson Urrutia, the offerings were placed, accompanied by those of the Cuban people and the Councils of State and Ministers.
Meanwhile, flowers were deposited in all the graves of the fallen by the Revolution at the Santiago necropolis, and the Cuban and July 26 flags were raised.
Minutes earlier, the people of Santiago paid tribute to Frank PaÃs in the Callejón del Muro, where he was killed by soldiers of the dictatorship.
Crowd pilgrimage in honor of Frank Country
As 62 years ago, thousands of people from Santiago pilgrim from Céspedes Park to the Santa Ifigenia cemetery to pay homage to Frank PaÃs GarcÃa, chief of action and sabotage of the 26 de Julio Movement.
Giant flags of Cuba and the red and black one led the march to which, as they passed through the streets of San Pedro and Paseo de MartÃ, the inhabitants threw rose petals from balconies and houses and shouted revolutionary slogans.
Upon entering the cemetery of Santiago de Cuba, the pilgrimage went to the tomb of Frank PaÃs GarcÃa, escorted on this occasion by the floral offering of Army General Raúl Castro Ruz.
Leaders of the Party and Government in the province, mass organizations and policies, the Association of Combatants and members of the Revolutionary Armed Forces and the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Cuba headed the commemorative march.
