Havana: Joy will take over every piece of Cuban land today, to live intensely and enjoy the International Youth Day and add another memorable chapter to this hot summer of 2019, the Cuban News Agency publishes.
If for millions on the planet every August 12 becomes a tribune and trench in claim of rights denied to them, Cuban youth, on the other hand, has a world of conquests to defend and countless reasons to celebrate, according to Asael Alonso Tirado, chief section of the National Committee of the Young Communist League (UJC in Spanish).
We will honor all the justice conquered and shared by the Revolution, this immense work that we have the sacred duty to preserve and continue, and we will ratify our commitment to the history, present and future of Cuba and of that great homeland and of all that is the Humanity, he told ACN.
The youth leader referred to the festivities on the occasion -instituted in 1999 by the UN General Assembly-, as a great day of jubilation, reflection, reaffirmation and combat, multiplied by the imminent arrival of August 13.
As united as in the calendar they will be both days in a celebration, which we dedicate from the heart, with infinite love and gratitude, to our Fidel, eternal young rebel, Commander in Chief of all battles, on the 93rd anniversary of his birth, Alonso Tirado meant.
As planned for today and tomorrow he mentioned mobilizations and productive initiatives, sports-recreational festivals, evenings, collective birthdays, galas, verbenas, cantatas and concerts, including the one that David Blanco and his group will offer tonight at René Fraga Moreno park, in the city of Matanzas.
Other activities are blood donations, book presentations, exhibitions, camping, competitions, meetings for the Generations Dialogue, street plans, children's carnivals, marathons, simultaneous chess, walks and bicycle rides, as in the municipality of Guamá, in Santiago de Cuba, pedaling from Chivirico to Uvero.
To this are added presentations of the “guerrillas” and other socio-cultural projects and community work initiatives of the José Martí Art Instructors Brigade, and climbing to the highest points of the Cuban geography, among them the Turquino Royal Peak.
This Monday, the winners of the seventh edition of the Young in the lens photography contest will be known at the Centro A + adolescent spaces, and also the awards ceremony of the mega sports-recreational project Cubaila will take place in the Cuban capital.
Young people will also arrive in Birán, Holguín, to camp very close to the place where the Commander Fidel was born to celebrate his 93 years of eternal life, Alonso Tirado said.
Essential ingredient of the Vívelo campaign, conceived for this summer season, the celebration of today and tomorrow will be an occasion for the recognition of outstanding young people and the delivery of the card to new militants of the political vanguard of the new generations of Cubans, he said.
He added that in a few Cuban municipalities the party will accommodate Zona Joven, a second step in the organic process of the XI Congress of the UJC - after the balance of the basic structures - and conceived as a space for real participation, for community intervention, of mobilization in the neighborhood, for concrete actions that require the competition of young people.
