Havana: The new 2019-2020 school year, on September 2, will host more than one million 700 thousand Cuban students, Prensa Latina publishes.

The learners will receive their classes at 10,700 school institutions ready for the next course, said Education Minister Ena Elsa Velázquez, quoted by the local newspaper Granma.

The official added that 6 thousand 191 teachers requested their reincorporation to the classrooms and about 2 thousand withdrew their resign solicitudes.

At the same time, 1 047 teachers withdrew their retirement application, the authority said.

The most important impact of the salary increase has to be the quality of work, the preparation and integral training of the students, the school organization, among others, she said.

Velázquez said that the recent proclamation of the new Constitution, on April 10, and the subsequent approval of the Law of National Symbols and the Electoral Law, opened an additional labor front for Cuban educators.

These documents were incorporated into the materials as part of the third improvement process of the national education system, she said, according to the publication.
