Kingston: The collaboration between Cuba and Jamaica is consolidated today with the arrival here of a group of educators from the largest of the Antilles who will teach in schools in the Caribbean island, Prensa Latina publishes.

Cuban professors will teach subjects related to the exact and natural sciences, and Spanish language, diplomatic sources said.

Both countries began collaboration in general education in November 1997.

Statistics from the Jamaican Ministry of Education indicate that nearly 400 teachers and professors from Cuba offered their services here from that date until 2018.

So far this year about 31,000 Jamaican children and young people benefited from the educational work of Cuban teachers.

Educators in Cuba have served in numerous countries, particularly in the battle against illiteracy through the pedagogical program I, if I can, whereby some 10 million people in 130 nations were literate.
