Havana: The Attorney General's Office of the Republic of Cuba informed that the confrontation against the crimes related to the deviation and theft of fuel gains in effectiveness, a vital step in the current energy situation that the Caribbean island is experiencing today, Prensa Latina publishes.
Until August 2019, about more than 460 criminal proceedings associated with fuel were processed, according to the chief prosecutor of the Criminal Procedure Direction of the aforementioned entity, Edward Roberts.
Beyond the fissures, this result shows greater coordination and effectiveness in the confrontation, the official said.
Among the negative actions that most affect are the reception, misappropriation and embezzlement, he said.
Also, cases of urban buses were detected, whose drivers do not give the planned routes, steal the fuel and, to avoid suspicion, deposit the money that would have corresponded to the daily collection, Roberts said.
Such facts, he considered, are extremely loathsome, especially in the current context, since they not only affect the State, but directly harm the population by depriving them of such a sensitive service.
In spite of the work done, the integrated work, internal control and, above all, the systematicity and permanence control, the requirement, the confrontation and the severity in the responses to the facts must continue to increase, the official of the Attorney General's Office said.
