Havana: Water meter boxes for the residential sector are already in the process of being assembled, a responsibility of the National Industry of Water Meters in Havana, Granma newspaper reported.
According to the National Hydraulic Program implemented in the country, two months after commissioning the task, more than 8 thousand measuring instruments have been assembled, with a guarantee period of five years, said Ramón RamÃrez, the company's Chief Engineer.
Likewise, he pointed out that the challenge is to assemble the 2 and a half million devices that need to be installed in the domestic sector in the next 10 years, which will improve energy saving and energy indicators.
Although the hydraulic kit of water meter boxes is imported, the rest of the equipment is produced in Villa Clara, and then assembled in Havana, which saves the country 35 percent of the cost for each device.
