Havana, Cuba: The National Assembly of Popular Power (ANPP) meets today in an appointment prior to the day of October 10, when it will elect the highest positions of the Cuban State.

The letter of the Constitution approved in April that established a term for the election of the president and vice president of the Republic not more than three months will be filled in that way, after entering into force the new Electoral Law (last July), Prensa Latina refers.

Before, on October 10, the legislators will elect the president, vice-president and secretary of the Parliament, and of the Council of State, and other members of that body, which represents the ANPP between one and another session, executes its agreements and fulfills important functions.

Prior to the session of the Parliament, the National Candidacies Commission carried out, during the month of September, a consultation process with the deputies from all over the country, in order to know their proposals on those legislators who, in their opinion, should integrate the corresponding candidacy projects.

The National Candidacy Commission is made up of representatives of the social and mass organizations of the Cuban society.

They are the Cuban Workers’ Federation (CTC), the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR), the Cuban Women Federation (FMC), the National Association of Small Farmers (ANAP), the University Student Federation (FEU) and the Federation of High School Students (FEEM).

Parliamentarians are also called to receive important economic information at a time when the Island gradually exceeds the energy situation imposed by the United States' claim to cut energy supplies.

It is a genocidal purpose, as President Miguel Díaz-Canel described it.
