Havana, Cuba: The Anti-Imperialist Solidarity Meeting, for Democracy and Against Neoliberalism, will begin today its three days of sessions at the Havana Convention Center, with the participation of more than one thousand delegates from different countries, Prensa Latina publishes.
According to its organizers, the event will open a wide space for the debate of ideas among delegates from the five continents, mostly social activists, political figures, representatives of organizations of farmers, women and indigenous people, as well as personalities of the intellectual and academic world.
It will also be an opportunity to continue learning about the impacts caused by the continued aggressions of the US government in Cuba with its economic, financial and commercial blockade policy, and to address how to expand solidarity with this Caribbean island.
The event seeks to contribute, from 'unity in diversity' of different sectors and leftist and progressive forces, to the confrontation with the current offensive of imperialism in the region, they add.
On the other hand, participants will share with their Cuban hosts on a visit to one of the capital's neighborhoods, during which a dialogue space with their neighbors will open and conclude with a concert.
The meeting is organized by the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) and the Cuban Workers’ Federation, together with the Cuban Chapter of Social Movements and the Continental Day for Democracy and against Neoliberalism.
