Havana, Cuba__ Gerardo Hernandez, Cuban antiterrorist fighter, who is visiting Germany, considered as positive the balance of the process of rapprochement between the United States and Havana, Radio Reloj publishes.

"We feel optimistic with that rapprochement between the two countries, but we must recognize that this is a cautious optimism," the hero of the Republic of Cuba said.

"We are aware that imperialism is not going to disappear just for the signature of an agreement on diplomatic relations," he added.

On the one hand, he said, many North Americans assess that process with a legitimate interest to improve relations, but there also very powerful sectors in Washington waiting for an opportunity to destroy the Revolution.

During his stay in Berlin, accompanied by Cuban Deputy Alpidio Alonso, the Gerardo Hernandez, also met with the caucus of the Left Party in the German parliament.

"History shows that you, by participating in our struggle, were on the right side," Gerardo said when talking with the legislators and he recalled the support of that parliamentary group to the international campaign for the release of the Five.

Heike Haensel, vice president of the left caucus in the German Senate, called the release of these Cubans as a great victory for the movement of global solidarity.

During his stay in Germany, Gerardo Hernandez and Alpidio Alonso participated in events such as the
International Rosa Luxemburg Conference and a meeting with representatives of parties and organizations, including the Communist Party.
