Havana_ Russia, both as a guest country and as a participant in the modernization of the Cuban industry (particularly the iron and steel industry) will be the focus today of the International Convention and Fair, CubaIndustria 2016, Radio Habana Cuba publishes.
For the first time, the event will dedicate one day to a country based on the agreements and contributions they have made in programs of great economic and social impact in the development of the island.
Most of the programs are in the area of steel production, which is important for construction programs and in the manufacture of automotive and railway equipment.
According to CubaIndustria’s organizers, the program of activities includes a business forum between Russian and Cuban businessmen, the signing of several agreements of intention, an exhibition of blown glass ornaments representing Russia and a fashion parade.
In addition staff at the Cuban company Antillana de Acero - the largest iron and steel plant in the Caribbean nation - will talk about their experience of training at a Russian university.
The UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) will also participate in today’s work sessions at the Conference Center in Havana. The UN agency will present a project for the improvement and modernization of Cuban industry.
UNIDO will use the presence of more than 2,000 participants in the event to launch a contest on the occasion of its 50th anniversary.
CubaIndustria began yesterday and will run until Friday, Jun 24th. The aim is to establish joint ventures, encourage foreign investment in infrastructure development and achieve the technological and industrial push the country needs.
Parallel to the Convention, at the PABEXPO exhibition center, there will be a display of equipment, machinery, new technology, parts and components in technology management, packaging, electronics, furniture, appliances, cosmetics, hygiene and cleaning products and graphic art.
