Havana, Cuba_ Cuban health authorities has reported another imported case of Zika virus, a Cuban woman, who returned to the country from Guyana, where she had traveled for personal reasons, Cubasi publishes.

An official note issued by the MINSAP states that the 39 years old patient, living in Caibarien, Villa Clara province, arrived in Cuba on June 15th, after being seven days in that nation.

According to the report, she stayed asymptomatic until June 18th, when the first symptom began to show. After being detected by the epidemiologic surveillance, she was admitted to Arnaldo Milian Castro in Santa Clara that same day.

As part of the investigation, a test for the Zika virus was taken and sent to the Pedro Kouri Institute of Tropical Medicine (IPK).

On June 22, the IPK laboratory confirmed that the Real-Time PCR test conducted on admittance to hospital had proven positive for the Zika virus.

The patient is at present asymptomatic and showing signs of good health.
