Havana, Cuba_ Student leaders of the region will meet in Havana in exactly one month, to celebrate the 50th birthday of the Continental Organization of Latin American and Caribbean Students (OCLAE), Radio Havana Cuba publishes.
"The event, to take place from 11 to 13, next August, will be equally combative and united to that IV Latin American Student Congress in Havana, where this platform of articulation, coordination and control of the student movement was born half a century ago”, Heidy Villuendas Ortega, president of the OCLAE, said.
As she stated, the Latin American and Caribbean Meeting of Anti- imperialists Students will endorse the purposes and founding principles of unity, solidarity, belligerence against imperialism and oligarchies, and the fight for a free public education, and for other America and a better world.
A broad representation of the University Students Federation (FEU), the Federation of Junior High Students (FEEM) and of a multitude of youth in the region studying in the Greater of the Antilles will join the 100 delegates to the meeting.
The student’s leader mentioned Havana’s University, Casa de las Americas, Jose Marti Memorial, the ALBA Cultural House and the Museum of the Revolution are among the scenarios for the activities.
The meeting will award the 50th Anniversary commemorative medal OCLAE to personalities and academic, scientific, political and social institutions, for their close ties and the support provided to the regional student movement.
