Havana, Cuba_ More than two million tourists have visited Cuba during the first semester of 2016, which means an increase of 12 percent in relation to the same period last year, so it is expected the arrival of more than 3,8 million international vacationers in the year, the Minister of Tourism Manuel Marrero said.

According to Radio Havana Cuba, Marrero predicted that in spite of the fall traditionally experienced in the months of September and October, the tendency to the growth will allow surpass the projections and break historical records of travelers' arrivals to the Caribbean country.

Canada stays in this period as the first supplier of tourism to the island, followed by United States, Spain, Italy, Poland and Germany, informed the television report which indicated that 50 percent of the foreign tourists repeat their visit.

Marrero also recognized an important growth in the national tourism, with the famous resort of Varadero and the northern keys of the country like main destinations.

In 2015 Cuba broke up a new record of foreign tourists with the arrival of 3,5 million visitors.

The tourism is considered the most dynamic sector in the Cuban economy, and the second source of foreign currencies after the professional services, with revenues for of more than 1 940 million dollars in 2015, for a growth of 10,7 percent, according to reports of the National Office of Statistical and Information (ONEI).
