Havana, Cuba_ Cuba will participate in the 36th edition of the International Tourism Fair, Fitur 2016, in Madrid, one of the principal emissaries of tourists to the archipelago, Granma newspaper reports.

The Cuban delegation headed by sector Minister Manuel Marrero, will provide information to visitors about the island’s newest offers in its top tourist destinations: Varadero, Trinidad, Cayo Coco, Cayo Guillermo, Holguín and Santiago de Cuba.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Tourism (Mintur by its Spanish initials), the participants will also be learn about attractions available in the city of Havana, site of Cuba’s International Tourism Fair, FitCuba 2016, this year dedicated to Canada – guest country of honor - and cultural products.

Directors of hotel groups Gaviota, Cubanacán, Gran Caribe, Islazul, Habaguanex, Meliá Hoteles, Iberostar, NH, Barceló, Blau, Blue Diamonds, Accor; travel agencies, Viajes Cubanacán, Cubatur and Gaviotatours; tour operator, Havanatur, as well as Paradiso, Amistur and Caracol are also participating in Fitur.

According to the National Office of Statistics and Information, 95,279 Spanish tourists visited Cuba from January through November 2015, a notable increase over the 70,584 registered during the same period in 2014.
