Havana, Cuba_ Cuban and German specialists and authorities analyze possible cooperation areas in environmental matter related with the prevention and reduction of the climatic change effects, Prensa Latina publishes.
This was the main objective of the visit carried out to the Caribbean country by the Secretary of State in the Federal Ministry of Environment, Protection of the Nature, Construction and Nuclear Security of the European nation, Jochen Flasbarth, from last day 21 until this Wednesday.
Flasbarth kept conversations with authorities of the ministries of Science, Technology and Environment, (CITMA) and of Energy and Mines, as well as with representatives of the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources (INRHI).
"In the meetings we valued the topics of interest and high-priority, because we are not here with the objective of making business, but of supporting in the solution of climatic and environmental problems of global character based on our knowledge and experiences", he said.
As one of the fundamental points in his program, the German vice minister mentioned the visit carried out to the Alejandro de Humboldt National Park, l in the oriental province of Guantánamo, declared Patrimony of the Humanity in 2001.
Talking about that place, Flasbarth commented that there is a project in operation developed by his country related with the evaluation of its biodiversity, its great beauty, but also with an extraordinary importance from the economic point of view.
According to the official, that investigation can find applications in areas like the tourism, which represents an aspect that will contribute to the zone and the communities close to it.
"Cuba is one of the countries with more biodiversity in the world and the Humboldt park has an endemic very significant presence as few places of the planet has", he commented.
The visitor expressed that in this case the cooperation among both nations doesn't have the pure science as a fundamental key, it also pays attention to the protection of the environment and the nature.
"Among the different environmentalists projects figure there is the care of the forests at national level, if Cuba is interested, that would be a workspace", he pointed out.
