Havana, Cuba_ Religious institutions in Cuba condemned the decision of the United States’ government of retiring the status of charitable exempt organization of taxes to IFCO / Pastors for Peace, for not declaring its solidarity deliveries to Cuba, Granma newspaper informed today.

We don't understand the situation that our brothers of IFCO (Interreligious Foundation for Community Organization Pastors for Peace) present, when the Cuban town is one of the direct beneficiaries of multiple contributions, medical equipment and medicines included among others, the religious expressed in an open letter.

The missive, signed by the Federation of Spiritualists of Havana, the Yoruba Cultural Association of Cuba, the Abacuá Association Supreme Council of Cuba and the Religious Bantu Institution of Cuba, remember that the bonds of Pastors for Peace with this Caribbean island date were established more than 30 years ago.

It also appreciates the solidarity and without another remuneration support, only the love and the friendship, thanks to which religious institutions, hospitals and national schools could carry out their functions under so special conditions as those imposed to Cuba by the economic, commercial and financial blockade of Washington.

This claim joins to the solicitudes of other organizations of the Island, like the Cuban Friendship's with the Towns Institute (ICAP) that recently condemned that measure and summoned all the friends of the world to unite to the solidary support to the antireligious North American platform.

The ICAP rejected vigorously the situation of Pastors for Peace, when they only fault is to bring donations and medicines to Cuba and together with our people defend the peace and the solidarity, so necessary in this world marked by the war and the social injustices.
