Havana, Cuba_ A delegation of Cuban deputies headed by the vice-president of the National Assembly of the Popular Power, Ana María Mari Machado, arrived to Geneva to participate in the 135 Assembly of the Interparlamentary Union, informed this Saturday diplomatic sources, Radio Havana Cuba publishes.
During the meeting that will begin tomorrow, the Cuban representatives will complete an intense work agenda that include the active participation in the different forums, the official statement stated.
The explanation of the achievements reached in the process of updating the economic and social pattern of the Caribbean country as well as the firm determination of its people to build a prosperous and sustainable socialism, stand out among the topics to be under discussion.
The Cuban legislators will also offer details on the negative impact of the economic, commercial blockade and financier imposed by the United States against Cuba during more than half century.
Yolanda Ferrer Gómez, president of the Commission of International Relationships of the Cuban Parliament, deputy Lázaro Barredo Medina and Jesus Mora, official of the same commission ara also part of the Cuban delegation.
Previously, the group carried out a wide work program in Belgium and Luxemburg that included meetings in the legislative bodies of the two nations, as well as a meeting in the European Parliament's headquarters in Brussels.
