Havana, Cuba_ The World Diabetes Day is celebrated in Cuba every November 14, with educational activities in the main centers of the health system and the communities, the digital place of Radio Havana Cuba publishes.
Under the slogan With the eyes turn on the diabetes, in the whole country will be carried out walks, educational chats, searching, glucose tests and other actions.
According to the head of the National Group of Endocrinology, doctor Oscar DÃaz, that illness constitutes the eighth cause of death in the Caribbean nation, where Havana and Matanzas are the most affected provinces, while Granma and HolguÃn present the lowest rates.
The World Health Organization, WHO, informed that in two thousand 16 four a four hundred 15 million people have been diagnosed with that suffering, and it is expected for two thousand 40 an increase of more than six hundred millions of sick.
The main risks factors are the sedentary lifestyle and obesity, pointed out Doctor Ileydis Iglesias, director of the National Institute of Endocrinology, who mentioned that the systematic practice of physical exercises, as well as a balanced diet will guarantee a better quality of life for the citizens.
Doctor Teresa Margarita González, responsible for the Center of Attention to the Diabetic, said that as soon as possible the suffering is diagnosed bigger damages will be avoided, among them, cardiovascular illnesses, blindness, renal failure and amputation of the inferior extremities.
The World Diabetes Day it celebrated with the objective of informing the population about the causes, symptoms, treatments and complications associated to the illness.
